Hayley Bonham's Holiday Wardrobe
For many, the arrival of summer signals long days filled with sunshine, reunions with loved ones and the promise of getaways to celebrate the year coming to an end.
We recently spoke to stylist and creative director Hayley Bonham to gain a closer look at her holiday wardrobe and the essential styles she’s packing this season.
Can you tell us a little about your holiday wardrobe, what styles are you drawn to?
I’m drawn to silhouettes that have a relaxed, yet tailored feel. I always have core, neutral pieces that make up my wardrobe, but I love bringing colour into my look, based on my destination.
A pop of colour definitely feels like summer to me. This look is chic and lightweight and great to wear for a beachside picnic. If I were going out for dinner or drinks, I would pop a neutral linen blazer over the top to add some structure and dress the outfit up.
How does the destination play into your looks?
The climate, the culture and the people always influence how I dress! I definitely have a signature style and always have core pieces on rotation when I travel, but it’s also an opportunity to really have fun with your wardrobe and work in pieces that add another layer of personality to your look.
This dress is a great look to take from beach to bar, it feels feminine, yet modern with the cut-out back. I would pop on a heel for a more elevated look and some jewellery if heading out for the night.
When it comes to your son Oscar, are there particular items you look out for?
While I was pregnant I had this notion that he would wear a lot of neutrals, however I love dressing him in colour—he’s got such a bubbly personality, it’s so much fun playing with his style. I am, however, very conscious of the types of fabrics he wears and I try to avoid synthetics; he wears a lot of cotton and linens as we live in a warm climate too.
When on holidays, a linen pant is always a staple for me. They are so versatile, they can be dressed up or down, paired with a cami, T-Shirt or over your swimsuit. This is an easy, effortless look and one that’s great to move about in while running around with my energetic toddler.
Where is your ideal holiday?
I absolutely love travel and Italy always has my heart, but my favourite destination in the world hands down is Noosa! I’m always by the sea, shopping at the local farmers' markets for incredible produce to cook and entertain with family and friends. I love Noosa for its relaxed, yet understated luxury vibe.
