Bringing Blush Tones into the Home with Stylist Nat Turnbull

A considered colour palette is essential in creating harmony in the home, while a few bold accents can breathe life into any space.

Our latest Home collection embraces the warmth of spring with highlight tones of rose, faded pink and lilac, complemented by natural oak timbers and hints of nougat.

Here, stylist Nat Turnbull demonstrates the ease of bringing blush tones into your living spaces, and shows that colour doesn’t always have to be daring.

Can you tell us about your space and how you’ve used colour throughout?

“Our space was designed by architect Adriana Hanna, so my styling has taken cues from her muted palette and used a lot of texture. I love that about it, it feels calm in palette but there is depth with all of the different materials like wood, stone, linen, glass and soft textiles. In terms of colour, we have kept the larger elements in the room muted but added soft hues in the smaller styling elements like the mustard and pink cushions, dusty pink ceramics and vases. I change and move these elements around the space quite a lot, mostly because I can’t help myself (ha!) but it also gives the space life.”

For those who aren’t used to working with colour, what’s a simpler way to style pink in the home?

“Firstly, don’t be afraid of colour. As you can see, it doesn’t have to be daring and vibrant. I love using dusty tones paired with a few key brighter tones so that the more vibrant hues don’t contrast too much. Secondly, have fun with it. As I said, I move things often. If it doesn’t feel right in the place or configuration you start with, move it around until it feels right to you. I for one have found myself craving brighter colours during this time in the world and it really does bring joy and happiness in our day to day life.”

What textures and colours pair well with pink?

“Soft natural wood grains like oak work really well with pink. Warm linen fabric like curtains or a sofa are also highlighted by a warm tone like pink. I particularly love using pink with mustard or dusty blue, it’s all of the dusty tones for me!”

What design trends are you loving in particular at the moment?

“I am loving fluted glass, it’s a timeless trend in my opinion. I’m also here for all things curvy which is very in at the moment.”
