Local Treasures: Exploring Currumbin Valley with The Vista
To mark the arrival of school holidays, we join Julia Ashwood of The Vista on her trip to Queensland’s Currumbin Valley with children, Delilah Bee and Alby Boy. Here, she visits the quaint Hillview Dairy and shares a few local travel tips to inspire your next itinerary.
Hillview Dairy
“With a current focus on domestic travel it's great to discover and support getaways in our own backyard (which are also perfect for kids).
This unique stay situated in Currumbin Valley is just an hour's drive from Byron or a quick 30 minutes from the Gold Coast airport.”
A labour of love for host Simone, who after losing her main job during the pandemic decided to turn her attention to the property. She has thoughtfully restored the old dairy into two large bedrooms, bathroom with oversized tub and view out to the fruiting banana trees, a large kitchen and timber deck for long table dinners, fire pit and a dip pool. Now, as her guest, your only job is to kick back, sip wine and watch the sun sink slowly over the valley.
The rustic and relaxed farm stay concept is great for the kids. Horses, cows and chickens roam the property and 'Smudge' the friendly farm dog is always up for a cuddle.
Enjoy a few nights here to take in the beauty of Currumbin Valley and its natural waterways, which are also just moments from the ocean. Hillview Dairy is a sweet and cosy winter getaway.
